Announcements: (last updated 8/1/2011, 2:30PM)

Letter grades have been assigned and posted. I hope you have enjoyed our time together in class, best of luck with whatever you choose to do in life! Don't be a stranger!

Final Key uploaded, scores updated on the grades page.

Grades posted here, letter grades coming soon. IF YOU SEE ANY DISCREPANCIES, IT IS BEST TO RESOLVE THEM BEFORE MONDAY!

I will be in my office from 8am-11am, 12pm-2pm Monday, August 1. FEEL FREE TO PICK UP OLD HW's, SCANTRONS in my office, before they become food for the recycle bin. If you need to fix some grade errors, I would recommend coming in the morning, as grades are due by 2:30pm.

Quiz 5 key updated. Quiz 5 graded out of 9 questions, with the dm/dt question counting as extra credit.

Here is a Practice final and key(final for 2C from spring 2011). Solutions from class here

HW keys are available for up to 5A.

Lecture notes updated. Fluids.

2 copies of the textbook are on reserve at Geisel library for 3 hours at a time, call number is ORC 705

FINAL EXAM

Prerequisites:  Physics 2B, Math 20C and concurrent enrollment in Math 20D, or equivalent.  Knowledge of calculus will be assumed.

Lectures:

Not every topic on the homework/quizzes will be covered during lectures, some will be left up to the book.  For that reason it is imperative that you read the book outside of class.  I encourage questions during class, but for one-on-one help PLEASE take advantage of the office hours and tutorial center.  Lecture notes below.

Announcements   Waves   Diffraction   Optics   Thermo   Fluids

Discussion and Problem Sessions:

There is one of each once a week, hosted by the TA (Aaron).  The purpose of these meetings is to discuss questions and solve problems posed by the students. The focus will be on GROUP WORK.

Homework:

HOMEWORK IS FOR YOUR BENEFIT!  Since I like you so much, I am going to make it a part of your grade.  See calendar for due dates and assignments contents.

Homework will be graded for completeness, except for extra credit, which will be graded for correctness.

HW1   HW2A   HW2B   HW3A   HW3B   HW4A   HW4B   HW5A   HW5B

Quizzes:

One quiz every week.

You MUST bring your scantron form and your OWN pencils, erasers, and calculator (if desired)

Please fill out your student ID and quiz code ahead of time.

A formula sheet for each quiz will be provided beforehand.

Quiz 1   Quiz 2   Quiz 3   Quiz 4   Quiz 5

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

Please read "UCSD Policy on Integrity of Scholarship" in the UCSD General Catalog (http://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/front/AcadRegu.html).  These rules will be rigorously enforced. Any confirmed case of cheating will result in an “F” grade in Physics 2C and referral to the appropriate dean for disciplinary action. For the purposes of this class, cheating includes submitting another person’s work as your own, copying from another student on Quizzes or the Final Exam (or knowingly allowing another student to copy from you), and use of unauthorized materials during a Quiz or Final Exam. Cheating also includes attempts to manipulate grades unfairly and intentionally misusing code numbers.
